Earthquake of magnitude 5.6 hits Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan

 An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan, on Saturday evening.

According to the Indian Center for Seismology, the tremors were also felt in New Delhi and some other parts of India, the Indian National Center for Seismology said on Saturday.

The earthquake’s epicentre, with a depth of 194.1 KM, is reportedly the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. 

So far, there has been no report of damage or casualties due to the earthquake. 

Earlier, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude hit Faizabad district of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan. 

“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.2, Occurred on 18-07-2023, 12:28 am local time, lat: 36.58 N/71.17E, Depth 110 km, location: Ishkasim district, Badakhshan, Afghanistan.”

In March of this year, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that was felt throughout the country killed 13 people and injured over 100 others in the Zebak district of Badakhshan.

Afghanistan is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world regarding natural disasters, including earthquakes, flooding and landslide.
