According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake’s epicenter was in the Jurm district of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale hit 133km SSE of Fayzabad, Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, at 10:17 pm Tuesday.
According to the report, the earthquake was felt in several countries, including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, India, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and China.
People rushed to the streets from their homes as the quake tremors lasted for several seconds in the northern Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh (New Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Panjab.
People are afraid and stand outside their homes even after the earthquake.
Recently, the frequency and number of earthquakes have increased in Afghanistan, particularly in the northeast province of the country, including Badakhshan and Takhar.
Experts say it is a matter of great concern and requires more caution and measure.
