Drone strike kills two militants in Nangarhar

Immigration News

DroneA strike by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has left two militants killed in Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province.

A statement released by the media office of Nangarhar Police Headquarters says the militants were targeted in Janjal Ghondi area at 2 pm on Tuesday.

Although, the press release does not specifically say the attack was carried out by a UAV but when Nangarhar Police Headquarters issues statement and it only says militants were killed in air strike, it usually means drone strike.

If the strike is conducted by Afghan forces, it would then specify it.

Yesterday’s attack comes a day after eight militants were killed in a drone strike in Kot district of Nangarhar province.

U.S. Forces have increased air campaign against militants in Nangarhar which is considered the stronghold of Daesh in Afghanistan.

The coalition officials estimate between 1,000 to 3,000 Islamic State fighters are stationed in eastern Afghanistan and are trying to establish a base of operations in the rugged mountains of Nangarhar Province.
