Umar Farooq, and four others were killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan tribal belt on Sunday.
Sources say an American UAV fired two rockets on a compound in Khat Tangi area of Datakhil district in North Waziristan and where the militants were hiding, killing 5 including Umar Farooq and wounding 3 others.
Sources added that Umar Farooq was head of the operations of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Umar Farooq was believed to be the most high ranking Pakistani national within the leadership of Al-Qaeda.
Sunday’s strike comes a day after the Pakistan military killed wanted Al Qaeda leader Adnan Shukrijumah during a raid at a compound in Shin Warsak area of South Waziristan.
