At least two Taliban commanders were killed following a drone strike by coalition security forces in eastrn Nuristan province of Afghanistan.
Local security officials in Nuristan province said the airstrike was carried out Thursday in Kamdish district.
A spokesman for the Afghan National Army 201st Selab Military Corps in eastern Afghanistan confirmed the report and said the two Taliban commanders were killed in Kamdish on Thursday.
Nuristan province which has border with the tribal regions of Pakistan is among the volatile provinces in easern Afghanistan where Taliban militants are openly operating in its various districts.
Much of the province is thought to be under Taliban control, as Nuristan is considered to serves as a safe haven for al Qaeda an regional terror groups including the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan.
