Abdullah AbdullahDr. Abdullah Abdullah, the runner-up in presidential election has threatened to boycott the inauguration following a breakdown of cooperation between his camp with Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai’s team.

According to reports, the disclosure of votes figure on winner certificate awarded to Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Friday, is the main reason behind the break down of cooperation between the two camps.

Dr. Abdullah’s camp slammed the Independent Election Commission (IEC) for disclosing the votes figure on the winner certificate and called it a violation of agreement between the two camps and IEC.

EC Chief, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani presented the winner certificate to Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during a press conference on Friday which revealed that Dr. Ghani has secured 55.27 percent of the total votes during the runoff presidential election, the credential reveals.

According to the certificate, the total of the votes which were marked as valid is 7,120,585 where Dr. Ashraf Ghani has secured 3,935,567 votes.

In the meantime, a source close to Dr. Ghani’s camp has said that Dr. Abdulalh has threatened to boycott the inauguration unless he also swears in as the chief executive officer and he is given the opportunity to give a speech.

Reports suggest that Dr. Abdullah’s camp was upset that no chance was given to Dr. Abdullah to speak during the inauguration.

There are also reports of scuffle between the electoral camps of Dr. Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai over office space in ARG presidential palace.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that armed supporters of Dr. Abdullah have taken over the vice president’s office and are insisting that the office will be handed over to Dr. Abdullah on Monday.
