Explosion in Kunduz provinceA heavy explosion rocked northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan early Wednesday, local officials said.

The officials further added that the suicide bomber detonated his explosives while Ghulam Mohiuddin, district police chief of Chahar Dara was leaving towards his office.

Provincial police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini, said Mr. Mohiuddin was injured following the blast and another policeman was killed.

Hussaini further added that two other policemen were also injured following the explosion.

He said the incident took place near the residence of Ghulam Mohiuddin around 7:00 am local time.

According to Hussaini, the civilians did not suffer any casualties following the blast.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
