An Improvised Explosive Device explosion killed the district administrative chief of Zindajan in Herat province.

The provincial government officials confirmed that the incident took place before noon time in Zindajan district.

Jilani Farhad, a spokesman for the Governor’s Office in Herat said a roadside bomb went off in Tarakhel area of Zindajan district, killing four people.

Farhad further added that the explosion killed Shukrullah Shakir, the district governor of Zindajan, his brother and two security guards.

Furthermore, Farhad said the explosion also wounded five security guards of Mr. Shakir.

The anti-government armed militants have not commented regarding the incident so far.
