The new spokesman of the Ministry of Defense Syed Ghafoor Ahmad Jawid assumed charge based on President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s decree, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

According to a statement released by MoD, President Ghani issued a decree confirming the appointment of Mr. Jawid after he was proposed for the post by the Ministry of Defefense.

The statement further added that Mr. Jawid will also serve as head of the strategic relations and public affairs to the defense ministry’s deputy for policy and strategy.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Jawid was introduced to the employees of the directorate for strategic relations and public affairs employees by defense minister Tariq Shah Bahrami.

This comes as Gen. Mohammad Radmanish was serving as the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan until today’s announcement regarding the appointment of Mr. Jawid.

Earlier, Gen. Dawlat Waziri was serving as the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense but stepped down from his post few months back, apparently due to retirement from the armed forces ranks.
