Death toll rises to 128 in Balochistan suicide attack

The death toll from yesterday’s suicide attack in Balochistan province of Pakistan has rised to at least 128 people, the local officials said.

Acting Home Minister of Baluchistan Agha Umar Bangulzai confirmed the the death toll and said at least 150 people also sustained injuries in the attack.

The incident took place late on Friday afternoon in Mastung area after a suicide bomber targeted a gathering organized regarding the upcoming elections.

A prominent local politician and Balochistan Awami National Party candidate Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was also among those killed.

A brother of the slain politician Haji Lashkari Raisani confirmed that his brother was critically wounded in the attack and succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Although the local media reports indicate that the attack was claimed by Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan’s ‘Ghazi force Lal Masjid’.

However, the loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan have posted a photo of a suicide bomber claiming that the attack was carried out by the group.

This comes as at least four people were killed and at least 32 others sustained injuries in a roadside bomb explosion in Bannu area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier on Friday afternoon.
