73 people killed or injured following explosions in Kandahar

Heavy explosions rocked southern Kandahar province on Wednesday. The incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the central city of Kandahar.
Provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Razaq confirming the report said the incident took place around 11:00 am local time after a motorcycle packed with explosives went off near a private security company which was followed by another car explosion after people gathered near the explosion site.
Gen. Razaq further added at least 23 people were killed and 50 others were injured following the explosions.
In the meantime provincial governor spokesman Jawid Faisal confirming the report said all those who were killed following the explosions were Afghan civilians. However provincial security chief Rahmatullah Atrafi said at least 8 security guards were also among those killed.
A spokesman for the Taliban group Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed the responsibility behind the incident and said no civilians were hurt during the explosions and 17 foriegn troops were killed.
