A deadly explosion in Khan Abad port of northern Kunduz province inflicted casualties to at least 80 worshipers on Friday, October 8, BBC reported.
The explosion has occurred in a mosque where hundreds of people had gathered to perform Friday prayer.
Deputy Minister of information and culture and spokesperson of the Taliban Zabiullah Mujahid has also confirmed the blast but did not disclose the exact number of people killed or wounded.
Mujahid in a Twitter post said that the special forces of the Taliban have been deployed to the scene to investigate the incident.
No one has claimed responsibility for the blast.
This was the first deadly blast in Kunduz province after the Taliban took over Afghanistan.
ISIS-K is currently the only militant group that conducts attacks and explosions against the Taliban but the latter have repeatedly said that the former is not a threat to them.
