imageAn agreement is likely to be concluded between the Afghan government and Czech arms maker – Excalibur Group, to provide spare parts and repair T-55 Afghan tanks.

The contract which is expected to be concluded within the next six months will also include training of the Afghan military technical personnel, while upgrading of the BVP armored infantry fighting vehicles in Afghanistan will also be considered in the future.

The negotiation was made during a visit by Excalibur Group business manager Jiří Sauer who visited Afghanistan together with Defense Minister Martin Stropnický, Czech News Agency reported.

Saud said “We are able to supply and produce any spare parts for this tank.”

The extent of the supply would depend on the Afghan military’s financial possibilities, Saur said, adding that the firm will discuss details of the contract in the following months.

According to Saur, the technicians will be examining the tanks’ technical state to see how many of them could be repaired.
