Cristiano Ronaldo won the title of player of the century on Sunday at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.

He grabbed the title by defeating Leonel Messi and Mohammad Salah, 23-person jury including coaches and former players and fan votes made Ronaldo become the century player of the 2000s.

He was presented with the “PLAYER OF THE CENTURY” Globe Soccer Award 2001-2020 in Dubai during the event.

“We have lost track of his records and in Dubai he wins his third Award as best player of the year, an award which he has so far only missed out on once since it was established. Cristiano is the prototype of the modern footballer, physically strong, fast, skilful and, above all, dedicated to the job he loves and determined in his preparation. The difference between a gifted player and a world-beater is in the latter’s inability to ever been banal or to have a poor patch. Ronaldo, match after match, is always capable of expressing class, energy, his competitive spirit. He plays no hold barred, to win always”, Globe Soccer Awards said on their website pointing to Ronaldo.

The crowned five times UEFA Champions League winner, also led Portugal to win for the first time in UEFA EURO 2016, scoring 102 goals as a captain for his national team.

He became a champion in the Italian Juventus club as he scored 81 goals in 103 games during his career.

Ronaldo claimed Two FIFA Men’s Player awards, Five Ballon d’Or awards, and became UEFA’s best player for three times in Europe.

During the event, Ronaldo said, “It’s really beautiful. I just want to say thank you to everyone” adding to his world he thanked his fans who voted for him, “my team-mates, clubs and national team, family and friends – especially my girlfriend and my children who help me to be a better person”.

“It is an exceptional achievement. It gives me the motivation to move forward” He added.

Ronaldo expressed, “to be named the best is a great honor, I hope that this situation [pandemic] is over next year and that we can have more fun, thank you very much” and “I hope to still be able to play for more years.”

In addition to this, Real Madrid claimed the Club of the Century award, Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola won the Coach of the Century title, and Robert Lewandowski, who plays as a forward in Bayern Munich became Player of the Year for 2020.

Ronaldo also won Golden foot title in December of 2020.
