irresponsible armed individuals kabulThe Afghan security forces will further expedite crackdown on illegal armed individuals in Kabul city amid concerns that the individuals are involved in growing criminal activities in the city.

Kabul police chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, told reporters on Sunday that the Government of National Unity has decided to disarm all irresponsible armed groups and individuals in the city.

Gen. Rahimi said major plans are on hand to launch crackdown on irresponsible armed individuals in the city.

He said over 130 weapons of different types have been collected from various parts of Kabul city and its districts during the past one month.

Gen. Rahimi further added that 92 suspects have been arrested in connection to the usage of illegal weapons in the city and the suspects are currently in police custody for further investigation.

This comes as at least one person was killed and two others were injured following armed clashes in Lab-e-Jar area of Kabul city last week.

He said the individuals involved in the gun battle are in police custody despite they had licenses to carry weapons.
