Afghan intelligence operatives foiled coordinated attacks in western Ghor province of Afghanistan, National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Wednesday.
NDS following a statement, said militants were looking to attack election campaigns Dolina district of Ghor province.
The statement further added that Afghan intelligence operatives discovered and seized 80 kg of explosives along with 6 remote controls, two improvised explosive device (IEDs), 16 rounds of mortar shells and one motorcycle.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) also added that the explosives were taken to Dolina district by a member of the Quetta council.
Ghor is among the relatively peaceful provinces in western Afghanistan, however Taliban militants and other insurgent groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in a number of its districts.
NDS did not say if any suspected militant was arrested in connection to the discovery of explosives and arms cache.
Anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
