The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved 21 new contracts having a total value of around 4.9 billion Afghanis, including the construction of 7 kilometers road from Kabul to Logar province.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the NPC meeting was organized in the presidential palace and was chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf ghani.

Some of the key projects approved during the meeting include construction of 7 kilometers between Kabul and Logar, ring road construction having a length of 1.4 kilometers in Mazar Sharif city, road construction from Khoshi to Mohammad Agha district in Logar, and procurement of diesel and petrol fuel for the maintenance and protection of Salang highway.

According to a statement released by ARG Palace, contracts for some other key projects, approved during the meeting, include procurement of 10,000 metric tons of wheat seeds, procurement of 9 various types of toilet equipment for the ministry of defense, contract for the connection of VCN and TDF sites via NSS12 satellite related to the ministry of information technology and telecommunications, and procurement of 15 various types of equipment for the workshop of the ministry of interior.

Other contracts approved during the meeting include procurement of 13 various types of grains for the accounts department and detention facilities of the ministry of interior while the contract for the procurement of 4 types of meat for the VIP protection unit of the presidential palace was rejected.

The National Procurement Commission also approved the requests for modifications in certain contracts, including construction of walls in 5,000 acres of land belonging to the Balkh customs department, changes in the deposits for the non-consultative BPHS and EPHS health services by the ministry of public health, and construction of hydropower system by the ministry of energy and water in Poza Lich of Ghor province.

The meeting also approved the modification of technical cooperation agreement with the UNESCO for the preservation and making of documentary in Mes Aynak historical site and construction of the 4th Lot of road from Shorabak of Kandahar to Spin Boldak district.

The meeting was also attended by the representatives of parliamentary commissions for the budget, economy, SIGAR, and Resolute Support Mission, ARG Palace added in it statement.
