CNPA nabs 1 over drug trafficking in Zaranj city of Nimruz, Oct 18, 2020.

NIMRUZ, Afghanistan – Counter Narcotic Police of Afghanistan arrested at least one suspect involved in drug trafficking during an overnight operation in Zarang City of Nimruz province, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement Sunday.

“CNPA launched overnight operation in Zaranj City of Nimruz province,” the MoIA tweeted. “As a result, 1 drug trafficker killed & 1 was arrested in a clash with CNPA.”

“During the operation, CNPA seized 43kg of heroin, 37kg of opium, 60kg of crystal meth, 2kg of chemical, 1 AK-47 rifle & 1 vehicle,” the tweet further said.

Arrest came at a time the country has tightened its security measures amid various threats throughout Afghanistan, including armed robberies and kidnappings.
