Clearance operations in Kandahar claim 75 Taliban militants: MoD

In Afghan National Defense and Security operations at least 75 Taliban militants including five suicide bombers were killed in Kandahar Province.

Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that in a joint clearance operation by the ANDSF and Afghan Airforce in Arghandab and Pajnwai districts of Kandahar Taliban suffered heavy casualties.

During the operation at least 12 Taliban insurgents were also injured, MoD stated.

ANDSF also seized six motorbike and number of weapons belonging to the Taliban.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a vehicle loaded with explosives was also destroyed during the raid, and another vehicle was targeted in an airstrike in Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province.

The Defense Ministry claimed that Taliban militants wanted to use these vehicles to target civilians and public facilities in the region.

Afghan security force members also discovered and defused 32 IEDs planted by the Taliban in Arghandab district, this move has saved many civilian and military lives.

Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
