Clashes among Paktia governor guards and police in Kabul-Mazar highway

scr_090208-D-1852B-002At least two people were killed and three others were injured following clashes between Paktia governor guards and policemen in Kabul-Mazar highway on Friday.

According to security officials, the incident took place while the vehicles convoy of Paktia governor Juma Khan Hamdard was on the way to capital Kabul from Mazar-e-Sharif city.

Balkh police chief, Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi, said a number of people were killed or injured following the clashes; however, he did not disclose the exact number.

Gen. Rahimi confirmed that Paktia governor did not suffer any casualties following the clashes.

In the meantime, spokesman for the Paktia governor, Rohullah Samoon, said at least four guards of Juma Khan Hamdard were killed and three others were injured.

Samoon further added that the attack was carried out a group of men in police uniform as soon as the Mr. Hamdard’s vehicles left Mazar-e-Sharif city.
