At least five civilians were killed or wounded in a suicide car bomb attack in central Logar province of Afghanistan, the local security officials said.

The incident took place on Monday evening in the vicinity of Puli Alam district, the provincial capital of Logar province.

Officials in Logar’s security commandment said at least two civilians including a woman and a child were killed and three others were wounded in the attack.

The officials further added that the target of the attack apparently was the convoy of the foreign who were leaving an Afghan army compound.

The Taliban group has claimed responsibility behind the attack.

Logar is among the relatively volatile provinces in Central parts of Afghanistan where security related incidents occasionally take place.

This comes as the anti-government armed militants have been attempting to expand their foothold and destabilize the provinces in the central parts of the country during the recent months and years.
