At least four people including two civilians, a police soldier, and a suicide bomber were killed in a failed suicide attack on a lawmaker’s house in Jalalabad city.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the incident took place earlier today in the vicinity of the 4th police district of the city after a suicide bomber intruded into a civilian house where he shot dead two civilians.

The statement further added that the owner of the house identified as Zubair was killed along with his 14-year-old sister while another child was wounded after Zubair resisted the suicide bomber who had intruded into their house.

According to the provincial government, the suicide bomber then intruded into the guesthouse of the lawmaker Fraidoon Khan Momand and shot dead a public order police soldier while injuring two other soldiers.

The police forces responded to the attack and shot dead the suicide bomber before he could detonate his explosives, the statement added.

The provincial government also added that the lawmaker and his family members were not present in the residence when the incident took place.

The security forces cordoned off the area and arrested a suspected individual in connection to the incident, the provincial government said.
