According to local government officials, the individuals were on their way in Zurmat district when they were captured by Taliban and were shot dead.
The provincial police chief Zalmai Orya Khel said the dead bodies of the slain individuals were found on Thursday morning from Mamozai area.
The Presidential Palace said President Ghani has strongly condemned the assassination of the government employees and instructed the relevant government institutions to assist the family of the deceased individuals.
A statement released by the Palace said a delegation led by Ministry of Interior has been appointed to investigate the incident.
Taliban militants claimed responsibility behind the murder of the men and said eight policemen and an intelligence operative were killed by the group’s fighters.
Paktia is among the volatile provinces in southeastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups, including Taliban militants and insurgents from the Haqqani terrorist network are actively operating.
