China to host two-day meeting on Afghanistan tomorrow

The meeting concentrated on Afghanistan is due to be chaired by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Tunxi, Anhui Province from March 30 to 31.

This is will be the third meeting of foreign ministers of the neighboring countries that discusses Afghanistan’s situation.

Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will take part in the gathering while a delegation from the interim government of the Taliban has also been invited.

Spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry Wang Wenbin said Chinese FM will later chair a dialogue between Afghanistan and its neighboring countries wherein Afghan acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi will take part.

Foreign Ministers of Indonesia and Qatar will be invited as guests.

The meeting aims to build further consensus among Afghanistan’s neighboring countries on the Afghan issue, discuss the neighbors’ plan to jointly promote the stability of the situation in Afghanistan, support the Afghan people, and convey the voice of Afghanistan’s neighbors to the international community, said the spokesman.

Wang further added that he was hopeful about Afghanistan being supported by the international community and will call on the US to take responsibility for the economy of Afghanistan.
