China is looking to construct a gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and China through Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Afghan presidential palace media office following a press release on Wednesday announced Afghan president Hamid Karzai on Wednesday discussed the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline following his meeting with China’s National Petroleum chief in Beijing.
China is keen to construct a gas pipeline which crosses through Amu river located in northern Afghanistan and urged for further cooperation of Afghanistan in this regard.
The statement released by Afghan presidential said there have been progress over economic cooperation between China and Afghanistan to improve the economy and stability in Afghanistan.
Afghan Mines Minister Wahidullah Shahrani is also accompanying president Hamid Karzai in his visit to China.
Wahidullah Shahrani Afghan Mines Minister is due to create a framework between Afghanistan and National Petroleum officials of China in this regard.
According to reports a delegation of the Chinese officials are also due to visit Afghanistan to further discuss the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline project.
