
The government of China has banned the consumption wild animals in a bid to prevent the spread of virus as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is quickly spreading across the globe after the disease surfaced for the time in Wuhan city.
The National People’s Congress Standing Committee on Monday approved the ban which also prohibits the illegal trade of wild animals.
The state media reported that the move is aimed at ‘completely banning the eating of wild animals’ and ‘cracking down on illegal trade of wildlife’.
The report also added that the move also aims to ‘safeguard public health and ecological security’.
According to reports, the government of China suspended the trade of wild animals on 26th of January in a bid to prevent the spread of virus.
