CEO Abdullah to visit Iran today

Immigration News

Abdullah AbdullahLeading a high-level government delegation, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah would leave Kabul for Tehran today.

During the three-day state visit, CEO Abdullah will meet Iranian officials to discuss regional challenges and enhancement of cooperation.

CEO’s spokesperson told Azadi Radio on Sunday that few accords are also expected to be signed between the two sides including trade.

Mujib Rahman Rahimi further said that CEO Abdullah will also go to the Port of Chabahar-the port that would give direct sea access to Afghanistan bypassing Pakistan.

Afghanistan, Iran and India are working closely a deal on the trilateral transit corridor expected to be finalized this year.

Work on the port has already begun by a joint venture of Kandla Port Trust (KPT) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

The port will be also used to ship crude oil and urea, saving India transportation costs. It will also cut transport costs and freight time for India to Central Asia and the Gulf by about a third.
