A heavy explosion rocked Ghazni city, the provincial capital of south-eastern Ghazni province earlier this afternoon.

Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi confirmed that the explosion has taken place close to former Provincial Reconstruction Office in Ghazni.

Rahimi further added that the security forces destroyed a car bomb with the rocket fire after identifying it.

He said the driver of the vehicle was attempting to ram the car bomb into compound of the former PRT office.

The provincial officials have said that the explosion claimed the lives of two policemen.

But the provincial public health officials are saying that the explosion has killed 3 people and injured 15 others.

In the meantime, the provincial government media office in a statement said the explosion has killed 4 people including two civilians and two security personnel.

The statement further added that the blast has wounded 17 others including security personnel.
