Car bomb explosion kill 10 Taliban militants, 4 civilians in Logar

AFGHANISTAN-UNREST-KABUL-TOLLAt least 14 people including ten Taliban militants and four civilians were killed following a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman, Din Mohammad Darwish confirming the report said the incident took place in Pul-e-Alam city of Logar province.

Mr. Darwish further confirmed that ten Taliban militants including seven Pakistani nationals were killed following the explosion.

He said at least four civilians including two women and two children were also killed following the blast which took place inside a residential house.

According to Din Mohammad Darwish, the dead bodies of the two children have not been recovered so far.

The Taliban militants group in Afghanistan has not commented regarding the report so far.

In the meantime, Darwish said Afghan security forces were aware of the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) in Pul-e-Alam city, and an operation was launched three days back to discover and seize the vehicle.

Logar is among the restive provinces in eastern Afghanistan where Taliban militants are openly operating in its various districts.
