The Canadian government has launched a new immigration program in order to attract more skilled employees from all over the world including from developing countries.

The new scheme named the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is based on the invitation issuance by each province, The Canada Now reported.

According to the source on average, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been holding PNC-specific Express Entry draws every two weeks since the beginning of the year.

IRCC held two draws last month, on 12 and 26th of May, and invited a total of 1,057 PNP candidates for permanent residency.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), considered as one of the major routes to permanent residency in Canada will enable 80,000 immigrants to get permanent residency status annually until 2023

How to apply to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee?

To immigrate to Canada through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), a Canadian province or territory has to nominate a candidate.

To qualify, the individuals must have the skills, education and work experience they will need to settle in Canada and support themselves and their family.

The province or territory will assess if the applicants will be able to meet their economic or labor market needs and those of Canada. If approved, the applicant can apply for permanent residency within the time period set by the Canadian province or territory in which they had applied.

The province or territory will let the applicant know whether they must apply through the Express Entry system or through regular application process, according to IRCC.

Nomination under an Express Entry PNP stream: If applicants are not already in the Express Entry pool, they will need to complete an Express Entry profile and be accepted into the pool. They can begin the process by using the Come to Canada tool.

Nomination under a non-Express Entry PNP stream: Permanent resident applicants who were nominated under a non-Express Entry PNP stream should apply for permanent residence using the regular application process.

The selection process and conditions to get a Provincial Nominee Certificate may be different from one province to the next. Check their websites to find out what you need to do before you apply.
