MacBook stolen found in IranA British illustrator whose stolen laptop ended up in Iran has told its new owners they can keep the device — because he feels sorry about humiliating them online, The New York Daily News reported.

The London-based film animator had installed tracking software on his MacBook Pro, and he decided to use the app to share photos of his laptop’s new owners online.

The Tumblr’s author’s name is Dom Deltorto and he claims his MacBook Pro was stolen from his apartment on February 4. Lucky for him, he installed a $15 application on his computer called Hidden App, which allowed him to track his stolen machine the next time it connected to the Internet.

Dom Del Torto’s MacBook Pro made took over a month to make its way back online where it was found to be in Iran. Since police weren’t able to help in the retrieval of his computer, he took to the Internet to publish the images he received of its new owners.

However Dom del Torto apologized to the innocent Tehran family for uploading their personal photos after they unwittingly bought his MacBook Pro pinched from his London home on Feb 4.

This comes as on Friday, he was bizarrely contacted by the actual woman in the pictures — who said she’d been shocked to see her face across the Internet.

“The innocent new owners of my laptop have been in touch. They’re mortified about the story and keen to return the laptop,” Del Torto also wrote on his Tumblr blog. He has since taken down the photos and has clarified that the people in the pictures are not the thieves who stole his laptop.
