3 people lost lives and 19 others sustained injuries when armed militants attacked Indian consulate in Jalalabad city, capital of eastern Nangarhar province, around 12 pm on Wednesday.
One of the 5 attackers detonated his explosives to blow up the barricades in front of the front gate of the consulate in order to pave way for other attackers to storm the consulate.
However, they were gunned down by security forces during a brief shootout.
There was no casualties to Indian diplomats and consulate employees but it left a policeman and two civilians killed and 19 others wounded including women and children.
14 victims who sustained light injuries were discharged from the hospital but five others are still admitted at Nangarhar Regional Hospital whose wounds are severe.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
