Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped 20 civilians in southern Zabul province, second incident of mass abduction this year.
Ghulam Jailani Farahi, the provinces Deputy Police Chief says that the kidnapping took place between Shah Joy District and Qalat, the provincial capital, this morning.
The civilians most of whom are reportedly from Hazara minority were traveling in different buses when armed men stopped them on gunpoint and took them an undisclosed location.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the kidnapping but the previous mass abduction was reportedly the work of Uzbek militants who have announced allegiance with Daesh.
The 31 passengers were abducted from Shah Joy District of Zabul province in February.
25 to 26 of them were released, including some freed nearly nine months after, and at least five of them were killed.
19 of them were released in exchange for some prisoners.
