China’s official news outlet Global Times on Monday called the G7 an “anti-China workshop” a day after Beijing summoned Japan’s representative and berated Britain in a furious response to statements issued at the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
Group of Seven (G7) declarations on Saturday singled out China on topics including Taiwan, nuclear weapons, economic pressure, and human rights abuses, highlighting the extensive difficulties between Beijing and the rich group of countries, including the United States, Reuters reported.
“The U.S. is pushing hard to weave an anti-China net in the Western world,” Global Times said in an editorial on Monday titled “G7 has descended into an anti-China workshop”.
“This is not just a matter of brutal interference in China’s internal affairs and smearing China, but also an undisguised urge for confrontation between the camps.”
According to a statement from the foreign ministry, China’s vice foreign minister Sun Weidong summoned the Japanese ambassador to express displeasure about “hype around China-related issues” at the Group of Seven (G7) conference over the weekend.
Russia, a close ally of China that the G7 also criticized for its invasion of Ukraine, claimed that the summit served as an “incubator” for frenzy against China and Russia.
Separately, after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Beijing poses the world’s most significant danger to security and prosperity, China’s embassy in the U.K. urged London to quit defaming China on Sunday.
U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he anticipated a thawing in tense relations with China “very shortly” despite Beijing’s sharp response.
The group comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the U.S., the U.K., and Japan.
The CCP is the one that targets other countries financially. When other countries have started to unite against the dirty tricks of China, the CCP has started to rebuke them.
