Bamyan formally introduced as cultural capital of SAARC nations

Bamyan-provinceThe central Bamyan province of Afghanistan was formally introduced as the cultural capital of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for the year 2015.

The announcement was made during a ceremony attended by several guests from Afghanistan and other countries.

The first deputy to Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mohaqiq arrived in Bamyan province earlier today and unveiled a special statue for the event.

Bamyan was named the cultural capital of SAARC nations for 2015, following efforts by regional cooperation directorate of Foreign Affairs Ministry last year.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said last year that several cultural events are expected to be organized by SAARC nations in Bamyan city in 2015 which will include seminars, exhibitions, musical events along with folkloric dances from South Asia.

Other exhibition including handicrafts, food traditional, silk route and numerous other exhibitions will be organized as well during the event.
