A number of Bamyan residents condemned and opposed the release of 400 Taliban detainees that was approved by the Loya Jirga.
The protesters staged a demonstration against the Loya Jirga on Sunday in Bamyan province.
The demonstrators believe that the escalation of insecurity in the country is due to the Taliban prisoner’s release and by sacrificing justice there will never be peace.
The protestors also underlined that the committing of treason done by the insurgents and those who shed the blood of innocent people should not be forgiven, these opposing individuals also called this ‘a dramatized Jirga’ because a large number of other citizens have not been asked to share their opinions.
Anti Jirga protesters claim that the most population of Afghanistan counts the Taliban as an insurgency group that has committed atrocities all around the country.
Meanwhile, the government says that the release and fate of 400 Taliban prisoners who are guilty of extreme crimes are the decisions of the public; decided and approved in a 3-day grand council (Loya Jirga) where over 3,000 public representatives participated.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the National Peace Reconciliation who also chaired the peace advisory Jirga for 3 days, said that the intra-Afghan dialogue will kick-off as soon as the process of releasing the remaining 400 Taliban detainees are completed.
