Twin suicide bomb attacks rock a busy market in Baghdad on Thursday morning, killing at least 28 people, reports show.

According to the press, both of the suicide attackers were pursued by the security forces before they blew themselves, this was the first suicide attack in 2 years to hit Baghdad.

More than 73 people are reported injured in the rare deadly attack in the Iraqi capital since defeating of Daesh in 2017.

The area was barricaded and closed to the public.

No group or individual has so far claimed the responsibility for killing Iraqi civilians.

“Iraqi authorities did not immediately say who they believed was behind the bombing but called it a terrorist incident, a reference usually used for attacks by Islamic State” Tolonews reported.
