Badghis capital city yet to be fully cleared of Taliban

Ministry of defense said that reinforcement of commandoes has been sent to Qala-e-naw city of western Badghis province and the city will soon be cleared of Taliban fighters.

The capital city witnessed heavy confrontation between Afghan National Defense and Security Forces and the Taliban after the latter entered the city and broke central prison releasing tens of prisoners.

ANDSF hours after the Taliban’s inflow on the city launched large scale operations and drove the militants out of the city.

MOD said that ANDSF particularly commandoes’ operation backed by aerial force targeted Taliban’s get-togethers in different parts of Badghis province killing 69 militants and wounded 23 more.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said this morning that Shahre Safa district of Badghis province fell to them but Afghan authorities have not commented on the issue yet.

ANDSF operation’s in Qala-e-naw city was largely commended by first vice president Amrullah Saleh and had addressed Red Crescent to carry Taliban’s corpses to Pakistan humanely.

The capital city of western Badghis province was the first major city fallen to Taliban after their intensified offensives launch two months back.
