
Two back to back explosions left at least ten civilians dead in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan, the local officials confirmed.
Jamal Naseri, a spokesperson for Kandahar Police, confirmed that the two explosions took place late on Sunday night in Arghistan district.
According to Naseri, the first explosion took place Shanarai area of Arghistan, targeting a civilian vehicle which left at least 8 civilians dead.
Naseri further added that the second blast took place in Burj area of the district which killed two pedestrians.
No individual or group including Taliban has so far claimed responsibility for the two explosions. However, the local authorities blamed anti-government armed elements for the blasts.
Taliban militants and other insurgents frequently use improvised explosive devices to target the security personnel and government staff but majority of such attacks kill or wound ordinary civilians.
