Afghanistan’s largest annual cricket event – Shpageeza (Sixes) Tournament concluded on Monday with the victory of Mes Ainak “Knights” team against Band-e-Amir “Dragons”.
Aynak Copper set a target of 221 runs from 20 overs after losing 6 wickets, with Noor Ali Zadran scoring 57 runs and Gulbuddin Naib 85 runs.
Gulbuddin Naib took 3 wickets and Muslim Mosa 2 wickets on the bowling side to restrict Band-e-Amir “Dragons” batsmen to 205 runs.
Band-e-Amir batsmen Mohammad Nabi Esa Khel managed made 88 runs and Omran Janat 33 runs.
The tournament begun on Tuesday, 26 August 2014, at Kabul Cricket Stadium. Teams from the 5 cricket regions of the country were established especially for the event: Amo Sharks, Spin Ghar “Tigers”, Band-e-Amir “Dragons”, Boost “Defenders”, Mes Ainak “Knights”.
Each team was captained by a member of the Afghanistan National Team. Members of both the National and Under-19 National Teams are distributed in the teams along with talented players from the regions.
Each team had an experienced coach to help them prepare for the tournament.
