Tuesday, 12 July – According to local officials, an attack has been carried out on Head of the Kandahar Provincial Council and the brother of President Hamid Karzai, Ahmad Wali Karzai.
Officials further added, the incident took place in southern city of Kandahar province.
Kandahar governor spokesman, Zalmai Ayoubi has confirmed death of Ahmad Wali Karzai.
Mr. Ayoubi further added, he was shot dead in his home early today by his own guard by the name of Sardar Mohammad.
The reason behind his assassination is unknown yet.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai and brother of Ahmad Wali Karzai expressed regret while speaking during a join press conference with French President Nicolas Sarkozay.
President Karzai siad, I hope that the miseries of the Afghan people will end one day.
French president Nicolas Sarkozy also expressed condolence to president Hamid Karzai, he said that Afghans are going through a difficult time.
On the other hand, Amrullah Saleh, former chief of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), has condemned the attack.
Mr. Saleh said, “I strongly condemn the attack on Ahmad Wali Karzai which resulted in his murder.”
Mr. Saleh further added, enemies of Afghanistan including Taliban, al-Qaeda and Pakistani will have no mercy on Afghan people and will continue to assassinate effective Afghan figures one by one.
He stressed on Afghan government to be careful in identifying its enemies and friends.
God in His sanctity has presented human being, His creation, with life, long enough for his own accomplishment and for his happiness and He gave to the man the essential knowledge for protecting that holy gift. Any attempt, any brutal interruption means crime!
Hamid Karzai has demanded to rule over a whole people.
He should know that.
