At Least 30 Injured in Traffic Accident on Kabul-Kandahar Highway

Nearly 30 people have reportedly been injured, according to the Taliban health officials in Zabul province in southern Afghanistan, as a result of a traffic accident on the Kabul-Kandahar highway.

The disastrous traffic accident happened as a consequence of a collision of a Mazda car that was related to a wedding ceremony with a truck, according to Abdul Hakim Hakimi, head of Zabul Public Health, who spoke to the media today, Monday, October 31.

According to him, the majority of those injured in this accident that was taken to the hospital are women and children, and some of them are in extremely serious conditions.

Although the exact cause of this collision is still unknown, reckless driving and excessive speeding are the main causes of accidents.

Two persons died as a consequence of a traffic incident in the Bati Kot district of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, according to the traffic manager for the Taliban authority in Nangarhar.

The Taliban traffic official stated that a motorcycle crashed with a truck, resulting in the death of the motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger.

Road erosion, careless driving, and disobeying traffic laws are the primary causes of accidents on the road, which significantly increase the number of traffic accidents and traffic-related fatalities in Afghanistan.
