At least 22 Taliban fighters were killed in Sare-e-Pul, Faryab, Balkh and Jawzjan province, security sources said.

Afghan military’s 209th Shaheen corps in a statement on Sunday said that Afghan national defense and security forces have raided Taliban positions and gatherings in Qaisa district of Faryab province, central parts of Sar-e-Pul province, Balkh district of Balkh province, and Mangjik district of Jawzjan province.

According to the statement during the operations, 22 Taliban were killed and 11 others of the group’s affiliates were injured.

The statement added that several Taliban outposts were destroyed, furthermore, ANDSF also discovered and defused two IEDs in the area of Pol-e-Naw in the Aqcha district of Jawzjan province.

This comes before the UN-led Turkey summit on the Afghan peace process, and the violence has escalated across the country.
