Monday, June 20 – According to officials in the Afghan Attorney General’s office, militant insurgent who stormed Kabul Bank branch and killed 40 civilians in estern Jalalabad city was hanged today around 11:00 am.
Death sentence of Zar Ajam together with one of his facilitator was announced on 13 June 2011.
Zar Ajam carried out attack into a Kabul Bank branch in Jalabad city by using police uniform and wearing suicide vest in the month of February 2011. He shooted nearly 40 civilians to death and injured 73 others.
According to Attorney General Office, death sentence of the convicts, Zar Ajam and Qari Matiulah who facilitated for the massacre at the Kabul Bank branch, have already been issued by the High Court.
Mr. Anayatullah Kamal Deputy of Attorney General Office said that the convicts were hanged according to the Islamic Sharia and enforcement law of the country in presence of representative of the attorney general, general department of jail and jurisdiction and Ulemas council of the country.
