Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh says that X formerly known as Twitter has rejected his request for a blue tick verification symbol for his account on this platform.

Saleh Criticizes X Owner Elon Musk, Fears Political Activities and Pakistan Pressure Could Lead to Blue Tick Denial

Saleh wrote to Elon Musk, stating that while members of “Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the Taliban” have obtained blue ticks, it’s likely that X does not provide him with the real account verification due to pressure from Pakistan.

Mr. Saleh publicly requested a blue tick on Sunday, April 7th, on the social media platform X. He stated that he has more than one million followers but has so far been unable to obtain the X blue tick.

The former Afghan Vice President expressed hope that the possible reason for not receiving the blue tick is not a “protest from Pakistani security institutions” to this network.

Elon Musk bought Twitter and renamed it “X,” his favourite letter. He made the blue tick, ensuring account authenticity, a paid feature. Unlike other platforms, X doesn’t restrict verification, even for groups labelled a terrorist by the US and UN.

Some senior Taliban officials have their original identities on X, and members of Taliban cyber groups use X to promote some Taliban figures and to destroy their opponents.

Meanwhile, Amrullah Saleh criticizes Pakistan’s involvement in Afghanistan, condemning Taliban officials’ use of X to promote their agenda.
