An airstrike killed at least 25 militants of the Taliban group in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan, the security sources said.

The Afghan Air Force reportedly carried out the airstrike in Dawlatabad district of Balkh province.

The sources further added that the Afghan Air Force targeted the militants who had gathered in one of the local villages late on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest that the airstrike also killed four civilians including a woman and a child.

However, the local government officials and the Afghan military in the North rejected that the airstrike killed civilians, emphasizing that only militants were killed in the raid.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
