10 people have lost lives in a helicopter crash in southern Fars province of Iran, officials said on Friday.
The helicopter was reportedly on an emergency mission to take patients from a remote area to Shiraz city for treatment when it crashed.
Hassan Fayyazpour, Director General for Crisis Management of Fars Governorate told Iran’s official IRNA news agency that six crew, three patients and one technician died in the accident which took place about 20 kilometers from the city of Shiraz.
The air ambulance was one of the twin emergency service choppers providing medical support in the province.
An investigation has been initiated to find out cause of the crash but it apparently happened due to bad weather condition or technical error.
According to IRNA, the area had experienced storms and heavy rainfall in recent days.
