Afghanistan’s young cricketer Mujeeb Ur Rehman managed to take wickets in his debut in India’s largest cricket league, Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 17-year-old Afghan national team player made his debut in IPL today by taking two wickets for King XI Pubjab for which he plays in the tournament.

King XI Punjab played against Delhi Dare Devils this evening and managed to secure a victory by six wickets and eleven balls remaining.

Having won the toss, King XI Punjab decided to field first and managed to restrict the Delhi Dare Devils to 166 runs by taking their seven wickets during the 20 overs match.

Mujeeb managed to take two wickets from four overs and by giving 28 runs only to secure a economy rate of 7 during his maiden match in IPL.

Other Afghan national team players including Rashid Khan and the former Afghan skipper Mohammad Nabi are also playing in IPL tournament this year.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Rashid Khan for $1.4 million while Nabi was sold 10 million Indian Rupees during the action earlier this year.

Khan was initially sold for 90 million Indian Rupees to King XI Punjab during an auction on Saturday but the Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to retain him at auctioned price.

The 19-year-old Afghan bowling sensation, Rashid Khan, for the first time played in the Indian Premier League during in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He managed to take 17 wickets from 14 matches during the IPL games for the Sunrisers.
