Afghanistan vs Ireland ‘ODI Series’ Opens Today

Afghanistan and Ireland will come face to face on the first three matches of the one-day international series (ODI) in Abu Dhabi, UAE today.

The teams poised to face one another at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, this match will mark Afghanistan’s return to international cricket after 10 months of hiatus, the country last time took a stand against Ireland in March 2020.

The United Arab Emirates refused visa issuance to the Afghans and prompting suggestion for another venue in Oman, which Ireland rejected.

The Gulf state agreed to let Afghan cricketers enter UAE and two teams later agreed on match schedules, this ODI series will speedy boost both of the team’s standings before the cricket World Cup in 2023.

In a friendly warmup match on Saturday, Afghanistan won by 22 runs over Ireland, these matches are important to both teams as both fixed their eyes to make it in the 2023 World Cup.

The three matches are related to Cricket World Cup Super League.
