Afghanistan-UAE sign long term strategic and security agreement

UAE-Afghanisan partnershipAfghanistan and United Arab Emirates on Thursday agreed to sing a long term strategic cooperation agreement, and bilateral security pact between the two nations.

The foreign affairs ministry of Afghanistan following a statement on Thursday announced, “Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan today agreed to the signing of a long-term strategic partnership agreement between Afghanistan and the UAE.”

The sttement further added, “The two foreign ministers also signed two separate agreements on security cooperation and transfer of sentenced persons during a one-day official visit by Dr. Rassoul to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of his Emirati counterpart.”

The foreign ministers reviewed the full range of the bilateral relationship with a view to further strengthening ties and cooperation in all relevant areas between the two countries, foreing affair ministry said.

Dr. Rassoul expressed the gratitude of the Afghan government and people for the steadfast and continued friendship and contributions of the UAE to Afghanistan’s security and economic development.

According to the foreign ministry of Afghanistan, the ‘Agreement in Security Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates’ further cements existing security cooperation between the two countries. It provides for cooperation in combating crime in all its forms, suppressing them and gathering evidence on them.

The security agreement between the two nations will including bilateral cooperation including offences involving terrorism, including its financing and supporting, murder and offences against life and physical integrity of people, kidnapping, taking of hostages, corruption and organized crime, counter-narcotics, illegal production, traffic and possession of weapons, ammunitions, explosives and hazardous materials, illegal immigration and human trafficking and smuggling, economic crimes and money laundering, crimes against natural resources and the environment, identity fraud, theft and smuggling of cultural artifacts, crimes against intellectual property and other crimes.

  1. Is it a strategic or just a security agreement… will they ask the UAE government to arrest those afghans who have looted various Aid and governemental finanacial assets and ran away  from Afghanistan and currently living in UAE… will they be able to return back the billions of dollars that have been taken away in suitcases through the Airports illegally and kept or invested in UAE..?
